da betsson: According to a report from The Telegraph, Southampton are amongst a number of Premier League clubs interested in signing OGC Nice midfielder Adrien Tameze, along with Aston Villa and Burnley.
What’s the word, then?
da bet vitoria: Well, the Ligue 1 side are reportedly happy to let Tameze leave on loan, with boss Patrick Vieira willing to let the 25-year-old join an English side on a six-month loan deal.
Tameze – who wears the No.5 shirt for OGC Nice – has made eight appearances in France’s top-flight this season, scoring one goal.
The Telegraph state that Southampton are looking at the former France international as they attempt to bolster the centre-midfield ranks at St Mary’s.
Would be a waste of time for Ralph Hasenhuttl
While Tameze might well be an excellent player, and one who potentially performs well in the Premier League, the central midfield areas should not be of high priority for the Saints right now, and competing with Aston Villa and Burnley for the Frenchman’s signature would be a huge waste of time.
Why? Well, aside from the fact that Hasenhuttl already has the likes of James Ward-Prowse, Oriol Romeu, Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg and Stuart Armstrong to play in that area – as well as academy graduates Callum Slattery and Will Smallbone – there are other areas of the XI that are more in need of reinforcements.
Namely, the full-back positions should be the south coast side’s main priority before they even look at players in other departments.
Cedric Soares – one of two senior right-backs alongside Yan Valery at St Mary’s – has been criticised by supporters for his performance against Norwich and once again prior to kick-off against Newcastle, while he has also revealed that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.
Elsewhere, on the other side of the pitch, Hasenhuttl has Ryan Bertrand as his one and only senior left-back, while the defence in general has conceded 38 goals this season – the second-most in the Premier League.

Tameze could well be a good signing, but competing for him with two other Premier League sides would be a waste of time and effort when other areas of the pitch are crying out for reinforcements.
In other news, Southampton would be making a very shrewd move if they loan out this 27-year-old…
