da dobrowin: Southampton posted a throwback video on their official Twitter account of former striker Graziano Pelle scoring a brilliant goal against Queens Park Rangers in a 2-1 win in 2014 on Thursday, and Saints fans were quick to react.
The jury was certainly out when the 29-year-old centre-forward signed in the summer of 2014 having only had two prolific goalscoring seasons during his career, but after a slow start he quickly became a favourite among the St Mary’s faithful.
The Italian scored 30 goals – including the brilliant acrobatic effort against QPR – in 81 appearances in all competitions before departing for the Chinese Super League in the summer of 2016, and the south coast outfit have ultimately struggled to find the net ever since.
Southampton supporters, who have also been reacting on Twitter to one of their former manager stunning everyone, took to social media to give their thoughts on the goal and Pelle, and while one said “we’ve never recovered from selling him”, another simply said “come back”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
