According to West Ham World back in April, West Ham United were keen to appoint Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers as their new manager during the summer to replace David Moyes, but it appears they have dodged a bullet by getting Manuel Pellegrini instead.
What’s the word, then?
Well, West Ham World reported in April that having decided not to extend Moyes’ stay at the London Stadium, the east London outfit’s owners identified the 45-year-old as one of their top targets to replace the Scot.
West Ham World reported that David Sullivan and David Gold would have had to pay a compensation fee to prise the Northern Irishman away from Parkhead, and it appears to be a deal that wasn’t possible in the end given they appointed Manuel Pellegrini instead.
The decision to bring the former Manchester City chief in looked like a potential mistake a few weeks ago following four successive Premier League defeats at the beginning of the campaign, but four points from their previous two fixtures show that they look to have turned things around.
Why have they dodged a bullet?
While there is no doubt that Rodgers has achieved plenty north of the border with Celtic having come so close to winning the English top flight title with Liverpool previously, he is really struggling with his side this season.

A tough summer in the transfer market saw Moussa Dembele leave on deadline day and Dedryck Boyata wanting out, and as well as an exit from the Champions League at the qualifying stages, they are also in sixth position in the Scottish Premiership having drawn one and lost two of their first six matches – they currently lie six points adrift of leaders Hearts.
Whether Rodgers can turn their form around remains to be seen, but for now it appears as though West Ham made the right decision during the summer.
