Attention will swiftly turn to potential candidates to replace Wenger, and plenty of names have been churned through the rumour mill.
One of them has been Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, who took over the Scottish outfit in 2016 and has gone on to win five trophies with the Glasgow-based club.

The Northern Irishman already has experience managing an elite Premier League club having spent three-and-a-half years in charge of Liverpool.
In that time, Rodgers failed to guide the Reds to a trophy, but they did come inches close to winning the league title before being pipped to the crown by Manchester City.
Rodgers emerged as an early contender to replace Wenger, but the fans made it clear on Twitter that they had no interest in the 45-year-old arriving at the Emirates.
Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell, though, thinks that the Irishman would be a good choice.
While speaking to Sky Sports News, the retired footballer said:
“I wouldn’t turn my nose up at Brendan Rodgers. I know a lot of Arsenal fans wouldn’t want Rodgers in, but he has learned from his mistakes at Liverpool. He has gone on to Celtic and done fantastic with them. Now he knows how to win. I don’t think he would be a bad appointment if he was brought in.”
