da cassino: The 2015/16 season was one of real progress for Tottenham.
da apostaganha: Despite running out of steam towards the end of the campaign, they took Leicester right to the brink; challenging for the Premier League title for the first time in years.
For Mauricio Pochettino, this summer is all about making sure that his side don’t run out of steam next year; especially with the prospect of Champion’s League football on the horizon.
Tottenham’s main issue last season was a lack of quality depth; Pochettino found his best eleven by the mid-point of the season, one which he hoped would see him through the rest of the campaign, but it’s true that Spurs did end the season a bit limply.
This summer he will no doubt be looking for quality depth, both in the form of young and of experienced players.
No doubt many top stars will not be happy to play a rotational role for the club next year; so Pochettino will likely be looking at that second tier of player, not necessarily a world beater, but someone who will be able to do a job for this Tottenham side.
Here are five ‘TRANSFER UNKNOWNS’ that Tottenham should target
Hirving Lozano
Manchester United are targeting this unknown youngster, and it would be a surprise if Tottenham weren’t keeping tabs on him too.
A technically gifted attacking midfielder, Lozano has an eye for a goal and unparalleled ability as goal provider.
At just 20 years old, Lozano would be seen as signing for the future; but Pochettino has never been averse to utilising young stars if they are good enough.
His style of play would fit Tottenham perfectly, and help to provide depth and take the weight of pressure off of Dele Alli’s back.
Marko Pjaca
An unknown player to the vast majority of casual observers, Marko Pjaca is the subject of a bidding war amongst a few of Europe’s top clubs.
AC Milan and Liverpool in particular are after the midfielder, and it is easy to see why.
The 21 year old winger is an expert at cutting inside and shooting from distance, terrorizing defences as he did during Croatia’s all-too-short Euro 2016 campaign.
He will no doubt be on the move soon – and with Tottenham looking for midfield depth, they should definitely be looking at this talented attacker.
Ragnar Sigurdsson
Another Euro 2016 star that has emerged as a target for a number of European sides is Ragnar Sigurdsson.
The 6ft center back formed part of a stellar Icelandic back line as the minnows made it to the quarter finals of the competition, beating England along the way.
With Tottenham suffering with defensive injuries going into next season, the club are reportedly looking at Sigurdsson as a potential target; alongside a host of other European clubs.
The fee would likely be small, and if nothing else he would add fantastic depth to this Tottenham side.
Rodrigo Bentancur
Rodrigo Bentancur is a Uruguyan midfielder who has been attracting the attention of a host of top European clubs in recent years.
Most fans will be unaware of the versatile midfielder’s traits, but he would be a perfect fit at White Hart Lane. A technically gifted, pacey midfielder, Bentancur is able to play across the midfield.
Real Madrid are expected to go back in for the talented midfielder soon, indicating that he is rated by some of Europe’s top scouting networks. At just 19 years old he definitely needs to improve, but Tottenham would serve as an excellent base to begin that development.
Lucas Alario
Lucas Alario is an Argentinian striker currently playing for River Plate, and is attracting the attention of a host of top European sides.
Tottenham have emerged as a recent destination for the 23 year old, and with good reason.
In just 19 games for River Plate has has bagged an impressive 10 goals, highlighting his ability to adapt to a new club.
Possessing raw ability and technical talent, Alario is a natural goalscorer and always finds himself in the right position.
Liverpool are reportedly the front runners, but Tottenham should look to swoop in for a late deal for the £10 million rated forward.
