da lvbet: The unrivalled master at making an instant impact, Jose Mourinho is lauded for his no-nonsense, high-intensity, lightning fast starts to every season.
da bet nacional: In fact, in his last 12 domestic campaigns as a manager (excluding last year’s disastrous anomaly at Chelsea) Mourinho has only lost a total of nine games in the first 10 combined.
Astounding figures like this account for why Mourinho has been heralded as the ‘short-term fix’ manager.
However, the Portuguese tactician has also been labelled with this moniker because of his inability to continue success at a club for more than three seasons. And it is this fact that continues to worry Manchester United fans, even as Jose’s pen moves ever closer to signing a contract at Old Trafford.
Sir Alex Ferguson spent 27 managerial years at the helm and created a deeply rooted philosophy at Manchester United that the modern game simply cannot cater for anymore – and that is longevity.
United fans have every right to be proud of this historical era and it comes as no surprise that they crave this type of stability again. It is for this reason that many see Mourinho and his prior movements within the managerial game as ‘anti-United’.
Despite this, the 53-year-old has never hidden the fact of his admiration for Manchester United and his desire to end up in charge of the club one day. Now, it seems like Mourinho has his wish and is a smart enough man to know that he may have to alter his approach when it comes to this job in particular.
Firstly, and most importantly, he has to approach this job as a long term project. Granted, he may bring in some experienced heads to cater the need for general squad improvement, but he must utilise the young United players who have emerged from the club in the past 12 months.
Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard are more than a good enough to play at Old Trafford and will need to feature regularly next season to gain further experience. Mourinho must implement them into his squad so as not to upset the fans and to plan for future success at the club.
With Pep Guardiola also arriving in Manchester this summer, Mourinho must remain controlled and steer his club away from the controversy that so often follows him wherever he goes. Guardiola will not give the press the provocative quotes and inspired headlines, he will remain professional and distance himself from any potential media storm – and Mourinho must do the same.
As soon as the cracks started to appear at Chelsea in his last managerial tenure, it quickly became clear that Mourinho and his unique style of dealing with the press was not helping but hindering his team.
He has the perfect mentor at Old Trafford in Sir Alex Ferguson, who was a master at handling both his players and the demanding media. It would be wise for the Portuguese to listen to the man who many consider to be the best manager of all time.
While his appointment is certainly a gamble, do not be surprised to see a new, rejuvenated Mourinho at Old Trafford. A man who has learnt from his mistake and is ready to take on the role he has desired for the last decade.
After all, it can’t be any more disappointing than the last two years, can it?
