According to The Mirror, Southampton are interested in signing Chelsea’s Gary Cahill.
Cahill has already expressed that he’d be willing to leave the Blues in January if his playing time at Stamford Bridge doesn’t increase, as reported by the Evening Standard. With the defender’s current contract set to expire at the end of the season anyway, he could well be available for a cut price fee in the winter transfer window.
Southampton have apparently recognised this state of affairs as being a great opportunity for them to pounce for the 32-year-old.

The former England international is certainly still a player with enough quality to get regular game time for the Saints, and he would also bring a great deal of much needed experience, authority and leadership to the back line at St Mary’s Stadium. Mark Hughes could do a lot worse than snapping up the unsettled Cahill in January.
What do you think, Southampton fans – would Cahill be a wise winter buy?
