da dobrowin: West Ham United are interested in signing Athletic Bilbao defender Unai Nunez, according to a report from Spanish outlet AS.
What’s the story?
da prosport bet: The Hammers are looking to sign the 22-year-old centre-back during the January transfer window, having already conceded 28 goals this season.
They are also said to be willing to pay the Spain international’s €30m (£25.7m) release clause to bring him to London Stadium.

Nunez is supposedly not happy with the prominence he has had within the Basque club this campaign, having made just five starts and one substitute appearance in La Liga.
It is said to be the East London club that has shown the most intent with their move for the centre-back.
However, they face serious competition to sign the Spaniard, as Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in signing him.
The European giants are offering Javi Martinez as part of a deal to ensure it happens, with the Bayern man having made nine starts and eight substitute appearances across all competitions this campaign.
A potential coup
It could be considered a coup if the Hammers were able to make this signing ahead of Bayern, purely because of how big a club they are and the fact that they have won the Bundesliga title in each of the last seven years.

However, if Nunez has been complaining about a lack of game time, it does seem a bit detrimental to go to the German champions.
If he moved to Munich, he would be competing with the likes of Niklas Sule and David Alaba for a place in the team. Not only that, but they also have Jerome Boateng and Benjamin Pavard among their ranks.
The likelihood of getting regular minutes would surely be higher were he to come to East London, especially if the Hammers are showing a willingness to spend a considerable sum on him.
In other news, West Ham fans have reacted to links with a Premier League defender.
